Void Guardian is a 3rd person space dogfighting game. The player must defend a base from waves of enemies. As the player progresses, larger and larger enemies appear, and the player must absorb the power of their defeated enemies in order to defeat the next waves.

Update:
Void Guardian is now up on the Digipen website! The name also has now been changed to Void Guardian! (Previously Project Scale).
Void Guardian started in the second semester of my junior year. Our team decided to make an epic space game, and feature large outdoor environments. With an art team to back us up, and Unity providing a solid platform from which to start developing, we started the enormous task of taking a game from an idea to an alpha version of the game in one semester.
Our number one goal with Void Guardian was to feature enormous environments and larger enemies. We wanted the player to feel very small in a large world. Another concept we really liked was that there is no "up" in space, and tried to design the environments in way that let the player define their own up. This brought up a lot of other challenges. Players had difficulty navigating the environment, so the levels had to be designed with visual cues that helped the player navigate around the map.
With a little over two months in development, it’s been a learning experience for all of us. None of us had used Unity before, but going from a home-made engine to Unity has been quite excellent! There is a lot of power built in, and one simply need to find and utilize it to make an awesome game.
